Having noticed the lack of visible gay East Asian role models in his own life, Martin works closely with organizations to apply an intersectional lens to their D&I initiatives. His work focuses on amplifying the voices of those from minority communities. One of Martin’s key initiatives includes an intersectional reverse mentoring program that he has introduced at his former place of work, Oliver Wyman, and inspired similar programs at other FTSE 100 companies. Martin regularly speaks publicly about his East Asian experiences of the model minority myth and explores the intricacies of navigating collectivist culture with an open LGBT+ identity. He hopes to inspire others to use the power of storytelling to make their experiences more visible to the next generation, and more tangible to senior figures who may not have considered the intersection of BAME and LGBT+ identities.
