Elizabeth Perez

Elizabeth is the Staff Chair for the D&I New York Leadership and has designed and delivered programs for awareness months and cultural celebrations. The Legal Project Manager and D&I Liaison at Reed Smith LLP, she is a committed advocate for diversity and inclusion issues leading many initiatives to drive the charge for change. Elizabeth has been central to the formation of Educational programs for the NYO to promote diversity and inclusion.

Edward Estrada

At Reed Smith, Edward has served as the senior management team sponsor of the Hispanic lawyers’ affinity group, and as an ally for the firm’s other affinity groups. He has been reverse mentored by leaders of the firm’s LGBT+ and mental health affinity groups, and sponsors the firm’s women’s initiatives and events. He is a member of the Hispanic Lawyers’ Society of New York, a mentor and financial sponsor for the Cornell University Office of Academic Diversity Initiatives, and an Advisory Board member of the Global Business Coalition for Education and YearUp, both organization focused on access to education and the development of market-relevant skills. Edward is committed to working with first generation college students, predominantly from low-income and ethnic minority communities, and sponsors and directly mentors students and young adults.

Gautam Bhattacharyya

Gautam always finds the time to represent ethnic minority lawyers and welcome the future generation of lawyers to Reed Smith, where he sits on the firm’s global board. He actively mentors and encourages the firm’s young and aspiring lawyers, and regularly takes part in panel discussions at Reed Smith, sharing his experiences as a diverse senior lawyer. He also regularly meets students at open day events where he provides advice and insight to those wanting to enter the profession, offering work placements wherever possible. Additionally, he actively champions the firm’s London Multicultural Network whose objective is to provide all Reed Smith employees with the opportunity to experience and celebrate their differences and raise awareness of issues that are pertinent to ethnic minority legal professionals. Externally, Gautam regularly takes part in panel discussions at diversity events to discuss the importance of ethnic minority inclusion. In March 2018, he was awarded the leading international lawyer award for work for Indian clients at the Legal Era Awards in Mumbai. He is also highly ranked in the Chambers & Partners Global Rankings, Legal 500 and Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Experts in Commercial Arbitration.

Claude Brown

Claude is a champion for, and on the steering committee of, Reed Smith’s Multicultural Network (MCN). The MCN’s objective is to provide all Reed Smith employees, and certain external clients, with the opportunity to experience and celebrate their differences and raise awareness of issues that are pertinent to ethnic minority legal professionals. Claude also mentors a number of Reed Smith’s ethnic minority junior lawyers, trainees and paralegals, as well as ethnic minority students and aspiring lawyers outside of Reed Smith. On top of this, he organises and sponsors a number of work experience and mini internships for ethnic minority students. He actively supports and speaks at courses organised by the BLD Foundation (who support young people from ethnic minority and/or socio-economical underprivileged backgrounds towards achieving their goals), and Aspiring Solicitors (whose primary aim is to increase diversity in the legal profession). Claude also assists with the job and study applications, and supplies references for internal and external ethnic minority people interested in a career in law.
